Wednesdays: 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

 

This DBT Skills Training Group is for young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 who experience chronic emotional difficulties and are ready to learn and practice new skills in all areas of their lives. Primary goals of the group are to decrease self-destructive behaviors, increase effective coping skills, and create a sense of behavioral and emotional stability for the group member.

 

Topics include emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress

tolerance, reducing impulsivity, goal setting, mindfulness, learning to identify emotions, and dialectical thinking and acting (coming away from extremes).

 

All group members are required to be in weekly individual therapy throughout the course of the program. An initial screening must be scheduled ahead of the first session.
